Esther Mathilda Prowatzke (nee Tiedje), 89, of Waukesha, went home to the Lord on April 19, 2025. She was born to Henry and Ida (Frankenbach) Tiedje on August 11, 1935, in Gardnerville, Nevada. She married Rev. Armin Paul Prowatzke in 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Orange, California. She is survived and treasured by her four children: Sherry Prowatzke, M.D., Linda (Gerald) Ecker, Jonathan (Janet) Prowatzke, and Michael Prowatzke. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Brady (Kathryn) Prowatzke, Brandon (fiancée Hailee Newman) Prowatzke, Bailey (significant other Matthew Moen) Prowatzke, Joshua (Allyson) Ecker, and Jordan Ecker. She is also lovingly remembered by three great-grandchildren: James, Giovana, and Jude Prowatzke. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Viola (Bob) Hoting, Elmer Tiedje, and Norman Tiedje.
Esther used her creative talents to cross-stitch, quilt, crochet, and knit—producing many treasured gifts for her family. She enjoyed volunteering for the American Cancer Society and was also a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Sussex. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, W240 N6145 Maple Ave., Sussex, Wisconsin. Burial will follow at approximately 12:45 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Grafton (please meet at the cemetery). Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted to Peace Lutheran Church in Sussex or to the American Cancer Society.
