80, was called to Eternal Life on April 18, 2025 with family at his side at AngelsGrace Hospice.

Daniel was born on June 29, 1944 to Arlene (Buth) and Daniel Merkel, grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Custer High School in 1962.  On September 28, 1968, Daniel married Arlene (nee Martin). Together they raised two boys in Merton. He deeply and devotedly loved and cherished her, and while she passed in 2012, he is back in the loving embrace of his wife.

Daniel worked at Amron, taught at MATC and at WCTC and volunteered his talents for his church, family and friends. Daniel was a devout Christian. He had a love of learning, particularly for science and technology, and leaves behind an impressive collection of power cords and cables.  Daniel was a member of the KMC HOG chapter through which he and his wife met wonderful friends and shared many adventures.

He is survived by his children Daniel (Heidi) Merkel and Todd (Desiree) Merkel; grandchildren Clara and Mahriana Merkel and Jayden and Ellyse; sister Patricia Zaferos; nieces and nephews, relatives and close friends.

A visitation will be held at Schmidt & Bartelt in Sussex, Saturday May 3rd from 10:00AM-11:00 AMfollowed by the funeral service.
