Richard C. “Dick” Adamek, 93, of Wauwatosa, entered eternal life Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice, Wauwatosa.
A celebration of his life will be held at 6 pm, Tuesday, April 29 at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services, Wauwatosa. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Richard was born January 23, 1932, in Milwaukee, the son of Charles and Cecelia (Slavata) Adamek.
A veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Northwestern University, Evanston, Richard was a stockbroker with Dean Witter for many years.
He loved traveling, the theater and opera, and fine dining. He was an avid reader.
Richard was preceded in death by his dear friend, Leigh Leach, with whom he lived with for over 50 years and with whom he was a business partner in Leigh’s Shoe Garden. Also preceding Richard in death was a brother, Philip.
A second father to Candice Schultz (Rev. David) and Dr. Chrisopher Kent, Richard was also a godfather to Jonathan (wife Molly and children Ava, Emma, and Owen), Jordan (wife Robyn and children Jack and Ella), and Justin (wife Cortney) Schultz, all of whom survive.
Richard is also remembered by a special friend, Glen Lago (Debbie). Other survivors include his nephews and nieces, Patrick (Alida) Adamek, Kathleen Griggs, Jonathan (Wendy) Adamek, Mark Adamek, and Ressa (Chris) Jones.
