Sylvia Iwinski (née Erpelding), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother returned home to God peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sylvia lived a life rooted in faith and family. She is survived by her loving husband Richard Iwinski, daughters Hayley (Calvin) Heithaus and Stacey (Chad) Melichar, and her grandsons Timothy and Anthony. She is further survived by her step grandchildren, sister Claire (Kim) Erickson, and many other family and friends that also loved her.

Graduate of Winona State University, Sylvia worked for years as a teacher and later for the US Post Office. Sylvia had a passion for traveling and even lived in Australia a for a time.

Sylvia married the love of her life, Rich, in 1979. Through the years they spent all the time they could together, be it while traveling, enjoying countless Scrabble games or family gatherings, and especially in the end while enduring her painful battle with cancer.

Sylvia was an amazing listener and always had room in her heart for everyone. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed putting together countless jigsaw puzzles throughout the years. She enjoyed traveling the world, baking, cooking, snuggling with her grandchildren, and she found strength in prayer and beauty in nature.

The memory of Sylvia’s positivity, faith, and beautiful smile will endure in the hearts and minds of all who loved her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25 at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home (930 Main St. Mukwonago) from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.  We will then travel over to St. James the Less Catholic Church (830 E. Veterans Way Mukwonago) for 11:00 AM Memorial Mass.  Following the Mass, there will be a lucheon held back at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home.
