Janet Sue Lee (née Thielsen), age 77, of Menomonee Falls, WI, went home to be with Jesus on October 6, 2025, with her daughter by her side. Born on October 4, 1948, in Chicago, IL, Janet was a woman of deep faith, boundless creativity, and had a deep love for her family.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted daughter, Jennifer (Greg) Kubisch, and was a proud grandmother to Nicholas (fiancé Savannah) and Dylan. Janet also leaves behind her stepchildren and their families, her cherished siblings: Gary Thielsen, Greg (Jan) Thielsen, Steve (Lori) Thielsen, Diana Thielsen, as well as many extended family members and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Art Lee; her parents, Thelma and Elmer Thielsen; her brother, David Thielsen; and many dear family members and friends who went before her.
Janet built a successful career in the food broker industry at Otto L. Kuehn Company, where she met her husband, Art. They were married on July 29, 1989, and shared 35 wonderful years together, including time at Casey lake, Pine Lake and retirement in Arizona.
Her passions included crocheting, cross-stitching, quilting, basket weaving, sewing, rosemaling, and participating in groups such as the Chatty Crafters club in Arizona. She enjoyed many friendships and especially her travels to Iowa with her dear friend, Gen. She was very proud of the photo quilt she made for her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary—a treasured piece that hung in her room and sparked countless conversations. Janet also enjoyed watching endless movies on the Hallmark channel year round.
Janet’s Lutheran faith was a cornerstone of her life, beginning at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She loved singing in the church choir and found great comfort and community in her worship. Her unwavering belief in God was a source of strength throughout her life, and it gives her family peace knowing she is now in His eternal care. Janet touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 12:00–1:00 PM at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home (N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave in Menomonee Falls, WI), followed by a short memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Janet’s name to the Alzheimer's Association or Brighton Hospice, organizations that provided comfort and support during her final days.
