Shirley Ann Flitz
March 13, 1938 - October 4, 2025

Of Mequon and Bayfield, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 4, 2025, at the age of 87. Shirley was born on March 13, 1938 in Milwaukee, to her parents Amanda Rose Huber and William Edward Huber. She was a graduate of Washington High School where she met Edward Alan Flitz, the love of her life and devoted husband for 62 years. Edward predeceased her, passing away in 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Shirley is survived by her loving children: Lisa Lynn Martin, Susan Mary and husband Skip Simonds, Alan Louis Flitz and partner Suzan Groebel, and Kari Ann Flitz and husband Dave Walworth. Her son, Christopher James Flitz, is predeceased. She is also survived by her grandchildren Savannah Langeberg, Sophia Martin, and Alice Whalen, as well as her great-grandson, Wilder Langeberg.

After raising her five children, Shirley pursued her passion for service and earned her first college degree to join the Bayfield EMT service. She was an avid athlete, a champion in tennis and racquet ball, running the Milwaukee Marathon, and cycling across numerous states, often with Kari and Chris in tow. She loved the beauty of kayaking on Siskiwit Lake and the Sea Caves of Bayfield, and nourished her gardens with the same love she put into crafting delicious meals (and pies and cookies and chocolate cake!) Above all, she will be remembered for her sharp sense of humor, and the valiant tender care she provided Edward in his final years.
