David A. Fait, age 83, of Mukwonago, WI, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. Born on November 19, 1941, David lived a life defined by love, service, and devotion to his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Fait, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years of marriage.

David was the proud father of Jennifer (Anthony) Edwards, Heather (Charles) Brennan, and Ryan (Colleen) Fait. He was a cherished grandfather to Austin (Audrey) Montgomery, Abagayle (Charles) Faris, Carson Edwards, and the late Lukas Edwards. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren whom he adored — Elijah Iverson, Kaia Montgomery, and Samuel Faris — they brought him immense joy.

Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Nancy (Will) Kopp, Susan (Glen) Held, and Gary Fait, as well as his extended family and many dear friends.

A proud United States Army veteran, David honorably served during the Vietnam War. His courage, dedication, and integrity were evident throughout his life.

In 1990, David purchased his business in Madison and simultaneously fulfilled a lifelong dream by building his home on Phantom Lake in Mukwonago. Known for his hard work, honesty, and perseverance, he successfully balanced both ventures while raising his family and enjoying the life he built. A legendary hunter and fisherman, David found peace on the water and joy in the woods, especially during the many trips he shared with his beloved son, Ryan. His countless stories, trophies, and friendships stand as a testament to a life well lived.

His warm heart, lively spirit, and steadfast nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved David.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 1PM followed by a ceremony with military honors at 3PM at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Mukwonago, Wisconsin (930 Main St). A lite supper and drinks will be served immediately afterward at Schmidt & Bartelt in celebration of David’s life.
