Of Germantown. Born to Eternal Life on November 15, 2025, at his home at the age of 88 years old. Donny is preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Alice (nee Neu) Wilegus.
Loving father of Margaret (John) Runnells, Gerald Wilegus, Barbara Knuese, Ruth (the late Jim) Wilegus-Hytinen and Carol (David) Klein. Loving grandfather of Justin (Ruth) Runnells, Nathan (Peng Zhang) Runnells, Peter and Philip Klein. Brother of Frankie Mahaffey, John (Mary) Wilegus and Dorothy (Lee) Parrish. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents T. Frank and Eunice Wilegus, parents-in-law Roman and Matilda Neu, his sibling Betty Edwards, sisters-in-law Helen (Jack) Kreuser, Evelyn (David) Adams, brother-in-law Robert (Evelyn) Neu and son-in-law Jim Hytinen.
Donny joined the US Army, served in the Korean War and participated in the 2014 Honor Flight. While stationed at the Nike Site in Lannon, WI, this young Missouri man met the love of his life, Alice, at a baseball game.
He always had a willingness to learn new trades and attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Landed a job working for Speaker Motion as a Purchasing Agent. When the company was bought out by GFG he stayed on and retired at age 65. Made a lifetime career working for the same company. Worked part-time also for Walterlin Construction delivering topsoil and gravel on the weekends as needed. After retiring worked at Blackstone Creek Golf Course (formerly Lake Park Golf Course) mowing the roughs.
Donny was very civic minded and volunteered for the Germantown Volunteer Fire Company for 25+ years. One of his primary duties was being an EMT on the rescue squad & later Captain of the Rescue Squad. He also served as Village Trustee, member of the Germantown Library Board & Knights of Columbus.
While going through hospice his strong faith really shined through. The entire family received excellent support & compassionate care from Horizon Home Care and Hospice staff. They are truly a blessing.
Visitation on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, W204 N11940 Goldendale Road in Germantown from 10 AM until time of the Memorial Mass at 12 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Boniface Catholic School, Germantown are appreciated.
