It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerald Bouwens on November 16, 2025, at the age of 59.  Beloved husband to Dawn (nee Block) for 35 years. Loving father of Lindsey Bouwens and Lauren (Josh) Rupnow.  Dear brother of Julie, Bill (Lisa) and Michael Polinske. Jerald will also be dearly missed by his beloved dog Dawsen, along with his nieces and nephews, including Douglas Polinske, Ashley Knox, Bill Polinske, Tony Polinske, Nick Stamm, close family friend Jimmy Carlson, and many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Josephine Bowens. Also preceded in death by nephew Davey Laurishke and niece Jammie Polinske.

He was a beacon of kindness with a gentle soul, generous heart, and selfless spirit that touched all who knew him.

Jerald cherished every moment spent with his family, including trips to summer festivals and Northern Michigan. A devoted Brewers fan, he found great joy in attending games. He also loved stand-up comedy and the band, the Violent Femmes. As a father and husband, his dedication was unmatched—his love was boundless and leaves an everlasting void in our hearts. Loved beyond words and missed beyond measure, Jerald’s life was defined by his commitment to family. His relationship with his wife, Dawn, stood as a beautiful testament to partnership and devotion.

Jerald dedicated himself to the Okauchee Fire Department, serving in many capacities—including firefighter, first responder, and dive rescue team member. Through his commitment and courage, he touched and saved countless lives.

A kind, gentle, and effortlessly funny man, he had a way of making everyone around him feel welcomed and valued. His warmth drew people in; his humor kept them close. He was a source of comfort, wisdom, and joy. His steady, unconditional love is something we will always carry with us.

Cherished by all who knew him, he will forever be in our hearts.

As we push through the sorrow, we try to remember…“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”  (Winnie the Pooh).

A celebration of life is tentatively planned for June 20th, 2026 at their home. More details to be shared at a later date.
