Robert “Bob” Tomsits passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at age 84. Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia “Jinny” (Sanford) Tomsits, son Scott Tomsits, daughter Kristin (James) Dunn, and sister Millie (Tomsits) Reynolds. He was uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Dorothy Tomsits and his brother Joseph (Christine) Tomsits.

Born on September 5, 1941, in South Bend, Indiana, Bob was a graduate of Green Township High School and attended Purdue University earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He and Jinny raised their family in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he had a career as a Test Engineer. His mentorship of young engineers and dedication to workplace excellence was well known. In his younger days, he traveled, played golf, and fixed anything and everything. An avid woodworker, Bob built furniture and other heirlooms for his family. He and Jinny moved to Waukesha, Wisconsin in March 2024.

Bob’s legacy lives on through the beautiful objects he made, the lessons he taught and the memories we cherish. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Schmidt & Bartelt in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a short service to follow. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Indiana YWCA Women’s Shelter or the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
