Peter W. Utecht of the Town of Erin passed away on December 17th, 2025, at the age of 77 years. He is the loving husband of Susan (nee Berendt); Dear dad of Sandie (Ryan Tobin) Paul, Pete Jr. (Jennifer) Utecht; Proud grandpa of Nicole (Dan) Winkels, Danielle (Wesley) Abfalder, Kaylin (Lucas) Nuss, Courtney (Tom) Loke, Brittany (Peter) Gehring, Peter Utecht III, Samantha (Cyrus) Cundy; Great grandpa of Braiden Winkels, Parker Winkels, Isabella Winkels, Peyton Abfalder, Aubree Abfalder, Tallulah Abfalder, Annabelle Abfalder, Ella Nuss, Lola Nuss, Sage Loke, Carson Loke, Augustine Gehring, Colette Gehring, Wilhelmina Gehring, and Arlyn Gehring. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
Pete was a machinist. He started Utecht Tool & Manufacturing Inc. as well as American Sewer Parts & Cleaning Inc. Pete, along with Sue, Sandie, Pete Jr., and his wife Jenny built the businesses to a high level. When Pete’s health started failing, he and Sue retired and the kids took over. They were so proud of them for doing a great job! Pete’s happiest times were when they spent time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Pete was an excellent cook, and he enjoyed cooking a ham and turkey for all of the holidays, as well as picnics and company picnic parties. Pete and Sue loved their vacations before he became ill. They spent many vacations in Florida going to Graceland, California, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Las Vegas for a sister’s wedding anniversary, and two trips to Hawaii. Their last vacation was in Key Largo, Florida. The best words to describe Pete are “He loved his family so much and he was a hard-working man!”
Funeral services for Peter will be held on Saturday January 3, 2026, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, W250 N6505 Hwy 164 Sussex. The visitation will begin at 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00 Noon. Peter will be buried at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Hartford.
