Karen Lynn Carlsen nee Schieber January 3, 1940 – January 3, 2026, was one of those quiet Christians who went about enriching the lives of all she touched, not with grandiose accomplishments that attract wide acclaim but, instead, countless ways she served as a conduit of God’s love to all she touched. As a result, she left a legacy of unselfish thoughtfulness, compassion, service and strong moral character. She served whatever Presbyterian church she belonged to as deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher or event organizer. She supported charities focusing on childrens’ needs, sponsored a Compassion child, and served as a Girl Scout leader and first call babysitter for grandchildren. All in a low-key, humble way.
To her family, Karen was a devoted, supportive, role model and witness for her faith. She demonstrated character, integrity and above all love for her husband Ted, children Kristen Rindfleisch (David), who preceded her in death, Ted (Monica) and Jodi Lopez (Matias), grandchildren Rebecca Wood (Tyler), Daniel Rindfleisch (Laura), Hannah Jones (Evan), Natalie, Jacob and Jonas Lopez and great grandchildren Rachel, Abigail and Emma Wood; Ava and Noah Rindfleisch; Millie and Elsie Jones.
Karen will be laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park next to Kristen in a private ceremony. A memorial service will be held at Highview Evangelical Presbyterian Church, S50 W33042 Highway GE, Dousman, WI 53118, on Saturday, January 10th at 11am. Visitation beginning at 10:00am and luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, St. Labre Indian School, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Compassion International.
