Bruce Michael "Mike” Apel, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
Born on August 11, 1939, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mike lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and community. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Reykjavik, Iceland. Following his military service, he built a career as an Office Manager in TelaCommunications.
On November 18, 1961, Mike married the love of his life, Carolyn. Together they built a strong and loving family that became the center of his world. He is survived by Carolyn; his sister Judy; sons Curt, Craig, and Kevin (Sheila) Apel; daughters Kelly (Rick) Wilson and Kerri (Matt) Bruinius; as well as all of his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother June Reifschneider, his brother Terry Apel and Daughter in law Linda Bernhart.
A man of deep faith and unwavering commitment to service, Mike was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church for 65 years. His devotion extended beyond worship—he coached basketball at St. Agnes for an incredible 35 years. Through coaching, he touched countless lives with his energy, humor, and encouragement.
Known for his outgoing nature and boundless enthusiasm for conversation, Mike had a gift for connecting with people. Whether chatting on the phone or striking up conversations wherever he went, he made everyone feel seen and heard. His goofy sense of humor and loving spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Above all else, Mike treasured time spent with family. His joy was found in their company—celebrating milestones together or simply sharing everyday moments.

Visitation will be held on February 5, 2026, from 10:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes Church 12801 W Fairmount Ave. Butler, WI. With Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery 9400 Donges Bay Rd. Mequon, WI at 12:15pm.
