John "Jack" Greenwood
December 26, 1948 - March 3, 2026

John “Jack” Greenwood of Brookfield, WI passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 3, 2026, at the age of 77. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

Jack was born on December 26, 1948, in Milwaukee, WI to Lyle Vern and Margaret (nee Dowing) Greenwood. He attended Washington High School graduating year of ‘67. His independence and ambition started at an early age of 8 when he traveled solo on a train from Wisconsin to Montana to help his aunt and uncle on a ranch. His work ethic was shaped furthermore when he started on his neighborhood paper route.

In 1975, at the age of 26, Jack founded his company Hydraulic Component Services. He had immense pride in his business where he thrived on solving complex problems for his customers. Jack lived a life of service to his family, his team, and his clients—many of whom became lifelong friends over the decades. HCS was his baby, his passion, and being President until July 2025 was one of his life’s crowning achievements.

Respected by his peers for his courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication, Jack was a man of true grit with a generous heart. One of his favorite sayings was, “getting old ain’t for sissies.” God knows how tough Jack was; he will always be revered for his strength of spirit.

Some of Jack’s favorite memories include hunting at the YO Ranch in Texas with customers, salmon fishing in Door County with family, as well as his weekly Friday fish fry date with Nancy.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Nancy; his son, Spencer (Jane) Greenwood; and his daughter, Eve (Evan) Riegler, whom he was endlessly proud to call his children. He is also survived by his beloved granddaughters, Lailah and Loretta, who lovingly referred to him as the “Other GG,” as well as his dear sister, Margaret Hader, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday March 15, 2026, at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home 10121 W. North Ave. Wauwatosa from 10:30am until time of service at 12:30pm.
