GLENDALE- Robert, “Bob,” William Peterson, 87, a longtime resident of Glendale, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in 1938, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Susan Peterson (Platt) and parents, William and Vera (Shosten). He is survived by children; Mark (Wendy) Peterson and Kristin (Brad) Winger; beloved grandchildren, Robert, Kelly, Kathryn, Charlie, and Henry; sister-in-law Nancy (Paul Suke) Platt; niece Heidi (Tim Losk) Suke, and great-niece Eva Losk. Further survived by other relatives and close friends.
Bob was born March 20, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN to William and Vera Peterson. He graduated from Edison High School in 1956 and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1960. Following his college graduation, Bob attended Augustana Seminary in Rock Island, Illinois and was ordained as a Lutheran ELCA minister in 1964. His first ministry was at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Menasha, WI where he met his beloved wife, Susan. They were married in 1966 and went on to start a life together in Madison, Wisconsin. Bob then pursued and completed his PhD in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After teaching as a college professor at the University of Kansas and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Bob devoted his career to market research consulting and retired from Market Probe (Milwaukee, WI) where he worked for nearly 20 years.
Bob had a passion for reading and listening to music. He was also a lifelong learner who enjoyed engaging in intellectual discussions on numerous topics, especially history and religion. In addition to these hobbies, Bob found his greatest joy in the simple beauty of Door County, WI where he vacationed every summer with family and friends. Bob was best known for his positivity, kindness, and wealth of patience. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. Family will gather for a private service.
