Schill, Candace M. “Candy”

Candy found peace on March 22, 2026 at the age of 56 after a courageous battle with cancer. Candy was the beloved wife of Jeff for nearly 18 years. She was the cherished daughter of Mal and Ken Olson; sister of Jeffrey Olson and Melody (Steve) Marshall; sister-in-law of Joe (Cathy) Schill, Julie (Dan) Schramka, and the late Patrick Schill; aunt of Natalie Marshall, Hannah Schill, Kevin Schill, Sarah Schill, Ben Schramka, Charlie Schramka and Claire Schramka; and daughter-in-law of Myrtle and the late Richard Schill. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

Candy was creative and kind, with a generous heart. She rarely went anywhere without bringing a gift of friendship, oftentimes an artistically hand-made craft. Gardening was one of Candy’s great joys and she cultivated beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. A lover of Christmas, she put up three Christmas trees each year on which to display her beautifully made and collected ornaments. Another of her great loves was music, and she was a long-time French hornist in the Wauwatosa Community Band. She enjoyed traveling and cherished her yearly trips to Door County with the Schill family.

Above all, the greatest love of her life was her amazing husband, Jeff, who brought her so much happiness, shared all of life's adventures with her, and supported her so devotedly through her years of cancer treatments.

Candy was a graduate of Muskego High School and the UW-Madison School of Education, where she enjoyed her student teaching abroad in England. Early in her career as a teacher, she spent time both in public schools and with a private tutoring center, finally landing at a place she loved, Plank Road Publishing, where she remained for the rest of her career. Editing music was probably the favorite part of her job, along with cultivating so many cherished friendships with her coworkers.

Candy was a passionate supporter of Tricia’s Troops (triciastroops.org) and the Temple of Kinship (templeofkinship.org), always looking to support others through their cancer journey. Her passionate support of Tricia’s Troops, a cancer support group, was matched only by the loving support she received from the wonderful people in that organization. Likewise, she found great comfort attending retreats provided for cancer patients by the Temple of Kinship. In lieu of flowers, memorials to either organization would be greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Fox River Congregational Church, N34 W23575 Capitol Dr. in Pewaukee, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. A private burial will be held at Mt. Thabor Cemetery in Beloit, WI.
