Larry L. Gillis, born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on March 31, 1942, passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2026. For more than a decade, he faced Parkinson’s disease with quiet strength and dignity.
Larry lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. A devoted Catholic, he carried his beliefs quietly yet faithfully throughout his life. He graduated from Marquette University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, laying the foundation for a strong work ethic and lifelong dedication to helping others.
He built a successful accounting practice, Gillis and Company, in Brookfield, Wisconsin, and also provided business consulting and real estate services, earning a reputation for integrity, precision, and dedication to his clients.
Larry was a loving husband to his wife, Marilyn (LeBrun) Gillis, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud and devoted father to Jill (Michael) Mikolajczak, Kerry (Jeff) DeBacco, Gregory, and Paula (Dennis) Sobczak. He cherished his family deeply, finding joy in shared experiences—whether family trips to Florida, days on the golf course, or home improvement projects, a hobby he pursued with care and passion. Larry created lasting memories through his steady presence, quiet humor, and unwavering love.
For the past three years, Larry was lovingly cared for at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. His family is deeply grateful for the compassionate and attentive care he received there. Shorehaven became more than a place of care—it became a second home for Larry and all who visited.
He will be remembered for his humility, kindness, and the strength of his faith, which guided him throughout life.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Jill, Kerry, Gregory, and Paula; his grandchildren, Bradley, Madeline, Marshal, Mckale, Tom, Scott, Zachary, Kayla, Thomas, Alexander, and Henry; 14 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Donna Hollister (Joe) and Karen Lepp (Mark); his sister-in-law, Susan Carr; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Alvin Gillis, and his brother, Robert Gillis.
Visitation will be held Friday April 10, 2026, at St. Jerome Catholic Church 995 S. Silver Lake Street in Oconomowoc from 10:30am until time of Mass at 12:30pm. Burial will follow at St. Jerome Cemetery.
