Eternal life grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him; may his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Our dear father, Dr. Richard Asma, 91, of Germantown WI, passed away on March 28, 2026 with family by his side.
With a fierce dedication to his family, Dad truly was a good man who always tried to do his best in every endeavor or situation placed before him. Perseverance, hard work, and integrity were pillars of his life devoted to helping others.
He graduated from the Marquette University School of Medicine in 1959 and completed his internship in General Practice at Misericordia Hospital in Milwaukee WI in 1960. He then practiced Family Medicine as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians at the Brown Deer Medical Building on Teutonia Ave. in Brown Deer WI until his retirement in 2000. From 1962-64 he also served as a captain in the Army as general medical officer at Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver CO.
Born and raised in Waukegan IL to Matthew and E. Genevieve Asma (nee Waters), Richard married Judith Wilson on June 22, 1957 and initially resided in Brown Deer WI where they began a loving family of 9 children. They resided in Mequon WI for 30 years.
He was a tremendous provider and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved to teach family members life lessons in activities such as sailing, camping, cooking, boating, and fishing, to name a few. Dad loved life, lived it fully, and used the gifts God gave him, always with good intentions at heart.
He is preceded in death March 19, 2026 by his beloved wife (Judy) to whom he was married for 68 years. He leaves behind their children: Vicky (Jim) Hamann, Steve (Mary), Joe (Shirley), Sue (Glenn) Erickson, Ben (Leann), Pete, Catherine (Leo) Moorhead, Ted (Teresa), Julie (Mark) Nornberg; 26 grandchildren (including one deceased); and 16 great-grandchildren (with one on the way). He is also preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, sister, brother-in-law, and son-in-law.
