Dr. Kenneth A. Siegesmund, Ph.D., 93, of West Allis, WI, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026 with his loving wife by his side.
Kenneth was a kind, generous man known for his everlasting love for his wife, his love for his family and his strong faith. He was born November 28, 1932 in Wauwatosa, WI, to August and Martha (Schwarz) Siegesmund, who he was proud to share were children of German immigrants. His father was a carpenter who left the legacy of a family lake house he built in Shawano, which Ken graciously shared with many family and friends and is home to annual summer family reunions. Kenneth graduated from Wauwatosa East before attending UW-Madison earning a B.S. and Ph.D. in Botany.
Kenneth met the love of his life, Patricia (Dreyer) Siegesmund, on a blind date. They married on April 18, 1959 at Faith United Methodist Church with Reverend Jordan officiating. He kept a promise to her father to “take very good care of his daughter” as he faithfully did that throughout their nearly 67 years of a happy marriage.
Kenneth led many church youth groups and loved to travel, including many mission trips with Pat and the youth. He was a faithful member of Bethany Calvary United Methodist Church. Friends will fondly remember him for enjoying bridge, proudly tending to his gardens and backyard pond and a lifetime passion for reading on topics that included politics, religion, and unexplained phenomena. He thrived on good debates on all these topics and on occasion gave sermons at Faith Church.
In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Kenneth was an Associate Professor of Anatomy at the Medical College of Wisconsin where he was known for his expertise with the Electron Microscope. In addition to his work at the Medical College, Kenneth was a forensic science consultant for over twenty years on over 600 cases with most requiring court testimony. He served as a consultant to several Pathology Departments, area hospitals; was a member of numerous scientific societies including American Academy of Forensic Science, Electron Microscope Society, American Association of Anatomy; was listed in American Men of Science and Who’s Who in Medicine & Healthcare. He has been the principal or co-investigator on many federal grants and was proud to visit the Pentagon at one time to share his expertise.
Kenneth’s children meant the world to him and he left them with many happy memories. His children included Mark (Donna) Siegesmund, Sandra (Mark) Everett, Carolyn (Timothy) Engel and John (JoAnn) Siegesmund.
He cherished his time with his grandchildren Erin (fiance Brian Kabisa) Everett, Lauren Siegesmund, Ben Siegesmund, Samantha (fiance Hayden Yearian) Engel, Emily Siegesmund and Lily (fiance Diego Prado) Engel.
He is survived by many other loved ones including nephews Donald (Linda) Yorde and Jason (Aggie) Merz; Sister-in-laws Karen Semrad and Jean Merz and so many other friends and family.
Preceding Kenneth in death are his sisters Ruth (Robert) Duncan and Ida (Elmer) Yorde; and nephew James Dreyer.
