Born to eternal life on April 28, 2026, at the age of 82.
Beloved wife of Thomas "Tom" for an incredible 63 years.
Loving mother of Tammy (Steve) Papez, Tracy Turowski-Thomann, and Todd (Wendy) Turowski. Dear Grandma of Scott (Taylor), Drew, Becca, Rachel, Ava (Zach), Sam, Izzy, Melissa (John), Nikki (Ethan), Ben, Tyler (Kaitlyn), and Kyle. Great Grandma to Dillon, Eva, Penelope, Shane, Avery and Demi. Survived by her sister Bonnie Puestow and brother Gary (Shelby) Styne. Along with many other family members and close friends.
Sandy was surrounded by family in the days before passing, a true testament to the strength and commitment she had toward family. She instilled the importance of family to her children, grandchildren, and all that were close to her.
Sandy spent over 50 years in the grocery business. She and Tom owned their own grocery store for many years, before she transitioned to working in the food brokerage business, eventually retiring from that career.
One of Sandy's favorite things was watching fireworks. She started the family tradition of seeing the 3rd of July fireworks, originally done by Schlitz brewery that started in 1963, at the Milwaukee Lakefront. From 1973 going forward, even as the family got bigger, the tradition to attend continued. Her other favorite event was the Big Bang fireworks, which she was able to enjoy with family and friends from the water, another tradition that continued for many years.
Sandy also loved hot air balloons, attending various balloon festivals over the years, including large shows from New Mexico and the Wisconsin Dells.
She loved to play cards, games and dominoes, hosting card nights regularly with Tom. She also played in many cribbage tournaments over the years. When scheduling something with Sandy, she would definitely need to check if it was a 'card night or if she and Tom would be off to one of their favorite casinos! Sandy shared her passion further by teaching cards and dominoes at St James Church thru the "Soul" program.
Sandy was a great cook, making fabulous desserts. She loved to host and organize large family events such as Christmas and other holidays; a skill and passion for family, that has been handed off to her children. She is truly an inspiration, as she was organizing Easter last month, even in her last weeks with us.
Visitation for Sandy will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 at St James Catholic Church (W220N6588 Town Line Rd, Menomonee Falls, WI) 9:30 am until time of Mass at 11:00am. Lunch will be served immediately following Mass, in the same building.
