(née Mikkelson) Went peacefully to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband James Joseph Hunter of 69 years; her children James Gerald Hunter (Michele Lewis), Tracy (Cindy) Hunter, Steven (Mary P.) Hunter, and Anne (Jim) Matthews; her grandchildren Melissa Hunter (Ryan Parsons), Sarah Hunter, Adam Hunter, Markus Hunter, Lukas Hunter, Rachel Matthews (Dylan Arya), and Kin Matthews; and her brother Jerry Mikkelson (Meg Winchell). She’s preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Mabel Mikkelson and her brother Tom Mikkelson. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 2 PM on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Redeemer United Church of Christ, W220 N4915 Town Line Road, Menomonee Falls, WI. Private burial will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sojourner Family Peace Center are appreciated, to honor Mary’s lifelong dedication to helping others, first as a nurse and later as a social worker. Her family also wishes to thank the staff of Angel’s Grace Hospice, Brighton Hospice and Towner Crest Assisted Living for their loving care. Schmidt & Bartelt in Oconomowoc is serving the family.
