It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Barbara Ann Bartel (nee Durham), born on January 10, 1941, left us to go home on May 28, 2026, at the age of 85.

Barbara is proceeded in death by her husband Raymond Bartel, her ex-husband and close friend Daniel Freeman, her parents John and Alice (Luke) Gigante, her beloved sister Alice Kessler (nee Durham), and her nephew Michael Gulbranson.

Loving Mom to Bill (Nancy) Schubert, Jeff (Michelle) Schubert, Lori (Jim) Himmelstein, John (Jenni) Freeman, Paul (Emily) Freeman, and Sam Freeman.

Cherished Grandma to: Brittany (Michael) Frederick, Matthew (Anna) Schubert, Nathan Schubert, Danielle Koepke, Jackson Schubert, Jameson Schubert, Chelsea Schubert, Ashley (James) Ko, Johnny Freeman, Payton Freeman, Joshua Freeman, Kamryn Freeman, Mattie Freeman, Jack Freeman, and Chase Freeman.

Great Grandma to: Skylar Frederick, Evelyn Schubert, Autumn Scheurermann, Kaiden Morrison, Kylah Morrison, and Emmett Ko.

Loving Aunt to Doug (Shirley) Gulbranson and Ronald Galaska. Great Aunt to Shaina Gulbranson, Lucas Gulbranson, and Justin Gulbranson.

Barbara was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls; she also was previously a member St. Marcus Lutheran Church.

Barb loved life and she lived for her family. She enjoyed gardening and walking in her yard. She loved to cook and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.

Our family would like to thank Moms neighbors, Pete and Rosemary Held, and Namor & Krystyn Rioz, for their help and support. It was a blessing to know that she had neighbors she could count on.

In lieu of flower, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at Barb's house on June 21, 2026, starting at 1pm.

Mom- Until we meet again, thank you for the lessons, the laughter, the love, such wonderful times and memories, and for always putting your family before yourself and for loving each of us unconditionally, we love you mom!
