John D. Schmitz, beloved brother, father and friend peacefully passed away on June 7, 2026, the age of 72.

John was a gift, along with his twin brother Ted, to his wonderful parents, John and Mary Eileen Schmitz. John was a proud and mischievous graduate of Messmer High School. He received a degree in social work from UW-Milwaukee and worked many years for the Milwaukee Sewage Commission.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Darcy as well as his parents. John is survived by his brothers Ted and Gerry(Pam Joy) sisters Marynell Lubinski(Olga Falcon), Sue Bergstrom(Frank Astemborski), Kathleen Schmitz(Doug Pierce), son John Lucian Schmitz and grandchildren Greyson and Mckenna as well as other relatives and friends. John was happiest when gardening or with his grandchildren whom he adored. He was a master gardener and frequently volunteered his skills.
