Jan Ruth (Gnader) Podolak, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Sussex, Wisconsin, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 21, 1951, Jan lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for learning. She graduated from Pius High School and later earned her degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she was a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa. Jan went on to devote her professional life to education, where she inspired many through her passion for teaching and her unwavering commitment to helping others learn and grow.

In December 1973, Jan married the love of her life, Wayne Podolak. Together they built a loving home and shared many happy years filled with family, friendship, and cherished memories.

Jan was a devoted mother to her two children, Ann (Nick) Breunig and Rob Podolak, who were the pride and joy of her life. She treasured time spent with her family and found happiness in life's simple pleasures. In her free time, Jan enjoyed reading, knitting, bird watching, and caring for her beloved Shih Tzus, who brought her endless companionship and joy.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Imogene R. Gnader and Camillo A. Gnader and brother Kim.

She continued to keep in touch with her grade school best friend Lorraine (Paul) Romero in Houston exchanging letters and emails.

She is further survived by cousins: Mark Roberts, Appleton WI; Steve (Eileen) Roberts, Appleton WI; Jeff (Dawna) Roberts, Eugene OR; Laurie Roberts, Merrill WI; Jennifer (Mark) Schiefelbein, Wausau WI; Christine (Bob Parent) Anderson, Wausau WI; and Kate LeBlanc, Delano MN.

Visitation will be held at St. James Catholic Church, W220 N6588 Town Line Rd. Menomonee Falls, WI 53051, on Tuesday, July 28 from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Summit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

The family would like to thank Sandy Reichard for the friendship and care she provided in the past few years.

She will be remembered for her devotion to family, and the warmth and compassion she shared with all who knew her.

Jan will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
