James David Payne Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18th at the age of 90 surrounded by family and friends.

Born on September 4, 1935, in Milwaukee, Jim was preceded in death by mother Irene and stepfather Lenny, sisters Arlene and Faith and cherished friend Yvonne. He is lovingly survived by his children Jude, Kenneth (Nancy), Debbie (Gerry) and James Jr.(Moi); grandchildren Nick, Krysta, Erin, Kellie, Dan, Mike, Brad and Tiffani. Also survived by his dear sister Linda (Ken), great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. During Jim’s three years at Regency senior center in Muskego he made many friends including special companion Betsy.

Jim was a young husband and father and supported his family primarily through a long career at GE Medical Systems. He enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. As a technician he loved his gadgets of all kinds. He spent his winters in Brownsville,Texas.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1st, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Schmidt and Bartelt funeral home, 930 Main St. Mukwonago, WI. A gathering ceremony to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, 3801 S 6th St. Milwaukee WI.

Jim’s final 2 days were at Angels Grace hospice in Oconomowoc. The care he received was exceptional.
