Went into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the age of 88.

Loving wife of Robert McDonnell for 65 years.

Proud mother of Debbie Thompson, and Rob (Kari) McDonnell.

Grandma of Matthew (Allie), Samantha (Joe), Brandon, Robert, and Megan (Joe).

Great grandma of Graham, Myles, Simon, Dixon, Charlotte, Dashiell, and Jasper.

She is further survived by many other family and friends.

Irene is preceded in death by her son Scott McDonnell, parents Louis and Rose Kendzierski, and her 10 siblings.

Irene enjoyed golfing and bowling in many leagues, working on puzzles, and traveling to Florida and Texas with her husband Bob during the winter months. She also enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to American Heart Association.
