James F. Pitterle
June 14, 1922 - February 20, 2011
        

Born to eternal life at home on February 20, 2011 at the age of 88 years.  Beloved husband for 62 years to Carol (nee Gloudeman).  Loving father of Michael (Jane), Timothy (Cindy), Daniel (Jill), James (Beth), Mark and the late Kevin. Beloved grandpa of Kiersten (Michael) Schramek, Erin (John) Murphy, Jon, Ryan (Megan), Kevin, Michael, Marissa, Carlyn, Brianna, Conor and Kayle.  Godfather to Debbie Braley, Ken Pitterle, Greg Gogin, Cindy Teichman, Carol Schultz Kinney and Michelle Pitterle Griggs.  Dear brother of Joan (Frank) Boyle and the late Agnes (Steve) Poliak, Lawrence (Myola), Norbert and Thomas.  Fond brother-in-law of Therese Pitterle and Betty Sharfenberger.  Further survived by many caring relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by his parents Leo and Ann (nee Bach). 

Visitation on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Funeral Home from 4 PM until the time of Vigil Service at 7 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 25, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 12130 W. Center St., Wauwatosa at 10 AM.  Burial with full military honors to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Memorials to The Alzheimer’s Association or to The Multiple Sclerosis Association appreciated. 

Jim was a WWII Veteran.  He flew with the 14th Air Force, The Flying Tigers.  James was a navigator on a B-24 Bomber based in Kunming, China.  Following 50 successful missions, Jim and the crew of Ubangi Bag III were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. 

Jim was a Graduate of Messmer High School and Marquette University.  He worked as an accountant for Milwaukee County, beginning with the Freeway Commission and later was the Fiscal Administrator for the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex.  Jim was a member of the Toastmasters and The Golden K Kiwanis. Jim was a charter member and accountant for the Odd Lots Investment Club. 

Jim enjoyed Golf, playing many years with The Clubbers. Jim was ready anytime for a round with his golfing buddies or with his sons and grandsons.

 Jim loved to travel, enjoying summer camping trips with Carol and the boys. The flights abroad including visits to Rome, Ireland, Holland, Taiwan and India were treasured adventures for Jim and Carol.
