Back in the 70's I worked at King Honda with the Dentici's. We got to know Larry the Legend thru them. He looks exactly as I remember him. What a great guy!

I grew up listening to "The Ledge" and the Morning Zoo in Milwaukee. He was a stellar entertainer and showman, and he had a heart as big as a giant wheel of Wisconsin Cheese.
I left Milwaukee a long time ago, but never left radio, and will never forget the qualities he embodied, on and off the air.
To the family, condolences for the loss of a wonderful man. To "The Ledge," you've got a big new audience to entertain, and all the time in the world to make them laugh.

I was program director of WZUU in Milwaukee back in the seventies and had the pleasure of working with Larry. I'm glad our paths crossed in this life and may he rest in peace.

I was Larry's producer at WISN-AM in the late 80s. He started work at 4:30 am and was ALWAYS there when I got in. He was demanding but had a big heart and generous spirit.
A few of his unique expressions include: "Speak your mind and onions," "I'm no vanilla talk show host," "There are no sacred cows," "Don't dance with me 'cuz your name's not on my card," "There's on old Southern expression - you've got to go to the head of the stream to muddy the water. There's an old Northern expression - Life's too short. There's an old Eastern expression - Just want your money, honey. And there's an old Western expression - Don't put Waheed, Daniel, Scottie, Major Clerkin, Marie or Hot Hilda on the air more than twice a week," and lastly, "Put a CORK in it - Say BYE!"
Larry was colorful, bright, provocative, empathetic, tough, and kind-hearted.

Larry and Mary were two of our dearest friends, ever. Larry was very kind and generous. We had such fun with him and Mary, sharing holidays, vacations, birthdays, events, etc. There was never a dull moment. We were blessed to have known the Johnsons. He is now with Mary. He was truly a Milwaukee treasure.

I handled news on Larry's show on WZUU in my first job after college and still think about him 25 years later--I'm still lucky enough to work in radio. In my head, I can still hear him say "Burnt toast and coffee time..." He was truly a Legend.
