Age 90. Passed away on Tuesday October 25

, 2011.
She had been living happily in Mequon, WI. with her daughter Bridget Otero and her family for the last 3 years and had been a resident of Mequon for the last 9 years.
Known as Kay, she was born Kathryn MacCormick on May 9
th
1921 in Iron River, Michigan.
She was a proud graduate of Iron River High School class of 1939 where she formed lifelong friendships.
Over the years many summer vacations were scheduled to coincide with the High School Class reunion which she and her classmates attended faithfully.
In 1940 she enrolled in Michigan State University and graduated in 1944 with a BS degree in Physical Education.
After graduation she first taught in Menominee, MI. and then settled in Green Bay where she taught at West High School and Preble High School.
On May 9
th
, 1953, she married John Shanahan and raised 4 children Mary, John, Bridget, and Colleen in Green Bay.
She continued to work in the school system while raising her children and later owned and operated a Carpet store with her husband John.
She enjoyed reading, playing bridge with her bridge club, knitting and spending time with her family and friends. She cherished her fond memories of travels in the US and Europe.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband John, who passed away at the age of 72 in 1995, her parents, and two sisters.
She will be greatly missed by her 4 children, their families including 13 grandchildren and many friends.
Services will be held on Saturday Oct.29 at Lumen Christi Parish in Mequon, WI.
The visitation will be
held from 9:30 – 11:00 at the church with the mass following at 11:00. The church is located at 2700 W. Mequon Road (Hwy 167) in Mequon, WI.
