Mosher, Maj. Richard H. (USAF Retired) “Rick”

Of Wauwatosa. Age 88.  Passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012.  Beloved husband for 69 years of Betty (nee Jossi).  Loving father of Sandra Leigh Riley, Christine Lynn Anderson, Debra Jean Pyzyk and Laurie Ann Mosher-Cohen.  Dear grandfather of David, Cindy, Julie, Heidi, Melanie, Angie, Kristin, Richie, Carson and Jared. Great-grandfather to many.  Dear brother of Ruth Johnson.  Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by his brother, Rex Mosher; his sister, Marlane Oren; and his son-in-laws, Robert Riley, Jon Pyzyk and Arnie Cohen.

Visitation Friday, January 20 from 10:00am until time of Memorial Service at 11:30am at the Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home.

Rick was a veteran of the US Air Force.  During post WWII, he proudly served during 1948-49 as a pilot in the Berlin Airlift, dropping primarily coal and food during the blockade on Berlin by the Soviets.  He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Wauwatosa, serving on the board and holding the position of President for many years. Rick's love of golf was highlighted by his famous "hole in one".  After serving his country as a young man, Rick entered the world of Real Estate. As the owner and broker of Westown Realty for over 40 years, he had a successful career selling single and multifamily homes.  During his early years in Milwaukee, Rick attended North Division High School. Known as a superior athlete, Rick was a guard and Co-Captain of the football team.  In the 1940's he was named "All City" in football, earning a scholarship to Marquette University. Later, Rick would attend the University of Wisconsin- Madison.  But Rick's greatest accomplishment was the great love he provided to his family. He was a wonderful, loving father to his daughters and his grandchildren, who miss him very much. Of most significance was his enduring and loving devotion to his wife Betty, of whom he said "has always been my greatest inspiration." On their first date, Rick and Betty saw Gone With the Wind. Rick, in body, may be gone, but his impact on this world, his fantastic stories, his humor, his love and his memory are still very much here. He will be in our hearts forever.
