Georgia Jane Grimmer
August 29, 1932 - September 22, 2013

(nee Romberger) Age 81, of Glendale, has passed to the Lord’s embrace.  She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Raymond Grimmer, Jr., and her children Raymond III (Jeanine) Grimmer, Judith (Ben) Whitehouse, Margaret “Peggy” (Linda) Grimmer, and Catherine (Jerry) Murphy.  Grandchildren Daniel, Alison, Carolyn, Drew Grimmer, Jack Whitehouse, Alec Grimmer, and Madelyn, Jerry, Nick, and Rachel Murphy, who all will dearly miss their grandmother.   Also surviving her are her many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many dozens of nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret Romberger.

Georgia was born in Milwaukee on Aug 29, 1932, and grew up with a love for the family’s trademark white bull terriers.  She attended Holy Angels high school, where she met many of her life long friends.  She graduated from Marquette University in 1954, where she earned the degree that would lead her to her life’s work of teaching.  In 1960, she married into the enormous Grimmer clan, and immediately acquired the many sisters and brothers that she never had as a child.  She cherished her new family, and taught her children and grandchildren to do the same.

She worked as a substitute teacher for many years while raising her young children, and then in the mid 1970’s, began teaching 3rd grade full time at Holy Family Catholic school in Whitefish Bay.  She held this job for nearly 20 years, until her retirement in 1996.  She spent her retired years relishing her time with her grandchildren, following her beloved Packers, and caring for her dogs Abby and Charlie.

After a cancer diagnosis in late 2011, Georgia fought and suffered with dignity, with her family at her side.  Our hearts ache for losing her, but we know she rests in the love of Jesus.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday, September 26, from 4 PM until time of Prayer Services at 7 PM. A second visitation will be held on Friday, at ST. MONICA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5601 N. Santa Monica Blvd. in Whitefish Bay from 9:30AM until 10:15AM with the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30AM. Interment at 2PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7301 W. Nash St. in Milwaukee (Please meet at cemetery office). Memorials in Georgia’s name may be directed to Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, Advancement Office, 4257 N. 100th St. Milwaukee, WI 53222.
