Schaffner, Leroy
87, was born to Eternal Life on October 15, 2013 in his home surrounded by friends and family. He married the love of his life LaVerne (Wallner) in 1949 and spent 64 wonderful years together creating many wonderful memories. He was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin September 3, 1926 to the late Jacob and Margaret Schaffner. He was a very loving and caring father to his 4 children, Diane (Patrick) Kullmann, Kathleen Valdovinos, Leroy (Michele) Schaffner and Bonnie (John) Otto. He was the proud grandfather to 9 wonderful grandchildren, Angela (Russell) Grace, Brenda (Greg) King, Jennifer (Eric) Fekete, Mark (Katie) Valdovinos, Ryan (Ashlie) Schaffner, Kelsey (Zack) Perthel, Sara Otto, Jessica Otto and Whitney Schaffner.
Leroy was blessed with 9 great-grandchildren, Collin, Iris, Jake, Hunter, Dane, Deven, Shelby and his newest great-grandson who he met the day before he passed Lucas. Even with his passing he will send love and joy to all these great-grandchildren including those not yet born through the twinkles in every star. He was also blessed with a step- great-grandson Kevin.
Leroy is survived by three of his sisters, Carolyn, Margie and Delorus (Pete) Rossbach. Leroy was preceded in death by his brother Jack, and sister’s Donna, Bernice and June. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors.
Leroy is a retiree of the Master Lock Company in Milwaukee WI. Where he worked as a Tool and Die Maker and later worked in Research and Development. He is a member at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mukwonago WI.
Leroy’s greatest joy in his life was his family. Loving to travel he took his children on many wonderful trips around the country. His favorite places were California where he would visit his sister Carolyn. He loved the Rocky Mountains and even enjoyed the thrill of Whitewater rafting the Snake River. He later enjoyed trips with his wife to Branson and the two of them also enjoyed traveling to Wall Drug Store to have a roast beef sandwich that is now a family tradition.
Through his years he enjoyed his two card clubs. The first with his sister Margie (AL) and Delorus (Pete) and his second card club with his brother-in-law Willard and his wife Margie.
Other hobbies included archery, trap shooting, hunting, fishing, and bowling, gardening and raising Beagles as well as making new friends every day. He was always friendly and love to start up a conversation with people he would meet in his everyday life.
He will be missed and always hold a special place in the hearts of many who had the honor to know him
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 20, at 5:00 PM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church (211 Main St. Mukwonago). There will be a visitation at the church from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 5:00 PM. Burial at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
